1 John 34

How can you and I explain the indwelling of the Holy Spirit?  Is it possible to fully describe His presence?  If you know Him, you know Him. The intellect and heart are matched in agreement even if His in dwelling cannot be put into adequate words. What experiences have you had when you were moved or filled with the Spirit’s presence? Jesus said in John 10 that the sheep would know His voice. We are talking about “the most real thing that can't be perceived by the five senses. So people are going to feel very strongly about the most real thing. And the way that we go about interacting with and knowing the most real thing involves deep dependence on intuition, individual and communal intuition, and therefore there will be a diversity of opinion always.” - The Familiar Stranger Podcast: The Holy Spirit in Head and Heart with Tim Mackie, Mar 4, 2025

“A life deeply rooted in Scripture is absolutely essential for a healthy relationship to God, self, others, and the world at large. Equally essential, though, is a life deeply rooted in the Holy Spirit, who leads by experience and functions in partnership, not competition, with the explanatory Holy Bible.” - Excerpt, The Familiar Stranger by Tyler Staton

“That important little word abide (or “dwell”) is used six times in 1 John 4:12–16. It refers to our personal fellowship with Jesus Christ. To abide in Christ means to remain in spiritual oneness with Him, so that no sin comes between us. Because we are “born of God,” we have union with Christ, but it is only as we trust Him and obey His commandments that we have communion with Him. Much as a faithful husband and wife “abide in love” though they may be separated by miles, so a believer abides in God’s love. This abiding is made possible by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (1 John 4:13).” - Excerpt, Be Real (1 John) by Warren W. Wiersbe
