Making Disciples 4/14

What does spiritual maturity looks like? This devotional has been helpful to me in filtering out what maturity is not - dwelling on the problems and doom and gloom around us. You and I have one life to live and I do not want to fill my life with joining in on the negativity and divisiveness around us. Finding ways to encourage others in their faith, hope and love of our Father is a higher priority.

“Jim Elliot once said, “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.” Radical obedience to Christ is not easy; it is dangerous. It is not smooth sailing aboard a luxury liner; it is sacrificial duty aboard a troop carrier. It’s not comfort, not health, not wealth, and not prosperity in this world. Radical obedience to Christ risks losing all these things. But in the end, such risk finds its reward in Christ. And he is more than enough for us.” - David Platt, Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream
