King 4

The Gentile woman was desperate and knew what the Jewish law was all about. She wasn’t worthy to approach Jesus, the famous and wise Jewish teacher. Aren’t we the same?  Who gives us the right to cross boundaries, economic, racial, religious, and tradition?  If we are following Christ, are we approachable like Jesus?  I’m not sure that I always display this quality, this intense love for those who are different than me. This woman may have demonstrated the Beatitudes and villages all customs. Moral examples come out of the woodwork if they are following Jesus.

Secular conservatism fights for the liberation of the individual from state power while progressivism fights for the liberation of oppressed groups through state power. It is easy for Christians who talk about liberation to be more influenced by one of these political views than by the Bible. Liberation understood in light of the Great Reversal looks very different from either ideology. In short, without the Great Reversal as the lens through which to understand them, the terms love and liberation will end up stamping Christians with the world’s understanding of morality rather than the Bible’s.” - Timothy J. Keller, Jesus the King Study Guide: Exploring the Life and Death of the Son of God
