James 8

Quarrels, disputes, and polarizing opinions abound in our culture. How can we navigate daily life without offending someone when we have no intention to be offensive?  It’s as if someone’s opinionated comment forces you and me to take a public stand on an issue. I wonder if these opinions are expressed in prayer before stated in a public manner. What difference will it make if you and I respond?  Rather than trying harder to navigate these issues, I’m wondering how much more peace we will experience if we listen to His nudge and wisdom, rather than the loud voices. God measures our hearts not the volume of our opinions.

“To live a disciplined life is to live in such a way that you want only to be where God is with you. The more deeply you live your spiritual life, the easier it will be to discern the difference between living with God and living without God, and the easier it will be to move away from the places where God is no longer with you. The great challenge here is faithfulness, which must be lived in the choices of every moment.” - Henri J.M. Nouwen, The Inner Voice of Love
