Knowing 5

Learning to open up and be vulnerable with caring Christ followers is often hard. It’s been ingrained in me to always act like I’ve got my act together. Being honest and vulnerable has been viewed as a weak character trait. I used to think that type of life was being a sissy, open to being victimized. But how do you reconcile the John Wayne heroic style with Jesus’s teachings?  I’m learning that Jesus was no weakling, but demonstrated strength beyond any cultural norm. He faced the worst our world could throw at him, yet overcame death, defying all worldly powers. To connect with like minded brothers, walking arm in arm, as we follow Jesus, empowers us to mature beyond what we thought could happen.

“An infinite God can give all of Himself to each of His children. He does not distribute Himself that each may have a part, but to each one He gives all of Himself as fully as if there were no others.” - A.W. Tozer
