Bible 335

Confidence can be based on pride or it can be motivated by a humble dependence on the presence of God. I’ve recently become better aquatinted with a couple of men who seem to be intentional in their dependence on God, and treat others with a gentle confident affirming approach.

The apostle John’s wise words about truth and love are played out each day by anyone working with people. Any parent of a teenager is working out this tension in each conversation as the teen tries to figure out the person they want to be as they are nudged in a certain direction by their parent.

Haggai seems very passionate in his words, wanting to inspire the reader to have a bigger picture of what is happening behind our normal view. I’m trying to remind myself of this each time I read or listen to the news. God has far bigger plans than the short view of what we see. This verse stood to me: “The Lord of Armies says this: “Think carefully about your ways.”

‭‭Haggai‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬ ‭(CSB‬‬)
