1 John 3:1-3 are some of my favorite verses, reminding me of how much God loves us. ‘See’ how much He loves us - experience it, open your eyes to Him. A young Dad told me a few days ago, “All I want is to fall deeper in love with Jesus because He loves me.” WOW, what if that were the passion for everyone we know. Few may understand this passion if we listen to all the temptations around us. What an exciting time to live as more come to know Jesus personally, not just filling with head information ‘about’ Faith.
“Jesus, thank you that you are not only a victorious Saviour but a Son of suffering, that you did not only push back the tombstone but also bore the cross. Because you are a God who did not shy away from suffering, I do not have to shy away from bringing my own suffering to you. I name, plainly and honestly, that which is causing me distress, pain, anxiety, and grief – that for which I have lost the courage to hope. Jesus, as honestly and faithfully as I can, I invite your resurrection power into the seemingly hopeless places I have named before you. I ask that you would shine your eternal light – quickly or slowly – bringing life to what, to me, today, has died.” - Lectio 365 app, 03/01/2025 morning prayer
“First John 3:1 tells us what we are, and 1 John 3:2 tells us what we shall be. The reference here, of course, is to the time of Christ’s coming for His church. This was mentioned in 1 John 2:28 as an incentive for holy living, and now it is repeated.
God’s love for us does not stop with the new birth. It continues throughout our lives and takes us right up to the return of Jesus Christ! When our Lord appears, all true believers will see Him and will become like Him (Phil. 3:20–21). This means, of course, that they will have new, glorified bodies, suited to heaven.” - Excerpt, Be Real (1 John) by Warren W. Wiersbe
