Mystery

“All creatures that exist are in the hands of God. The action of the creature can only be perceived by the senses, but faith sees in all things the action of the Creator. It believes that in Jesus Christ all things live, and that His divine operation continues to the end of time, embracing the passing moment and the smallest created atom in its hidden life and mysterious action. The action of the creature is a veil which covers the profound mysteries of the divine operation.” - Excerpt, Abandonment to Divine Providence by Jean-Pierre de Caussade

Father, Son and Spirit, Everything exists because You created all things to honor Yourself

We perceive reality through our senses, knowing what we are taught and experience

Seeing what we choose to see, listening to the voices we allow into our minds and hearts.

The mystery of your power and presence is just as real as what we experience in our ordinary moments,

May our eyes and ears be open to Your kingdom and Your righteousness.

The temptation to be our own god defies Your presence,

The illusion of our importance and status ignores who You are.

We calculate our independence through possessions and power

Comparing ourselves to each other in arrogance or shame.

You have given us the ability to know Your presence, Your moving, Your kingdom,

Much different than the rest of Your creation.

You search the entire earth for those who seek You.

You are our refuge, our shelter, our safety

When the storms of life stir our uncertainty.

Your kingdom is moving to bring everything to honor who You are

You multiply the small efforts we make as we choose You.

Your love guides our efforts, that we may love You more deeply,

Bringing hope, faith, and mercy in a distracted world.

May we look for what is hidden, more valuable than our cultural gold standard.

May we treasure You above all else.

Amen.
