Mark 2-10

What first hits me from today’s passage is that Jesus’ response seems abrupt toward His family. Weee they concerned about Jesus or did they want Him to save time for them?  But the shift in Jesus’ attention was to focus on discipleship, training others for what was to come. God me, the highest calling has been to put my energy into my family. Now that they have grown, I’ve worried that I will not be needed, I’ve struggled to find my role but I’m growing in my call to be a continual encourager to them as much as possible. I want to be all in with discipleship as a rhythm in my life, praying that this will continue in my family for generations to come. I hope that is true for you as well.

“This series presents the rhythm of discipleship. The rhythm involves being with Jesus—receiving from him, learning from him, growing in him. The rhythm also involves going—sharing what we have learned and received so others might experience it too. The going dimension involves telling what we know while living out the truth we proclaim—word and deed.  Following Jesus is to be the primary relationship that shapes who we are and what we do.” - Excerpt, Following Jesus: Discipleship in the Gospel of Mark by Steve Langford
