Mark 2-19

I used to think that Hos was just waiting for me to blow it again. I could never measure up to my own expectations let alone His standards. I just needed to try harder and avoid sin, not disappointing myself or Jesus. But God is not like that. I wonder if the pig owners would have responded differently if they understood who Jesus was. Would theory reaction have been different if they understood the unseen power of evil being confronted by Jesus’s love?  How do you and I want to be transformed as we experience Hks live confronting us in our personal lives?

“Jesus’s entire life was a demonstration of the true nature of God. As Jesus heals the sick, forgives the sinner, receives the outcast, restores the fallen, and supremely as he dies on a cross forgiving his killers, he reveals what God is like. To see Jesus is to see the Father.  At last we know that Jesus is not a “thunderbolt-hurling Zeus or any of the other angry gods in the pantheon of terrorized religious imagination. God is like Jesus, nailed to a tree, offering forgiveness. God is not a monster. God is like Jesus!” - Excerpt, Sinners in the Hands of a Loving God by Brian Zahnd

““Clearly, Jesus had a power greater than theirs. How would he use that power? Would he use his power against them the way the unclean spirits feared? After all, he was a Jew, and they were Gentiles. The loss of their herd of swine suggested they had much to fear. They begged him to leave their territory (Mark 5:17).” - Excerpt, Following Jesus: Discipleship in the Gospel of Markby Steve Langford
