Mark 3-7

How willing am I to share my faith with others?  The short term mission assigned to the disciples seems scary, taking no provisions with them. Many go on short term missions projects to areas where no one personally knows those on the mission team. But to purposely engage in a conversation with someone I know can be scary if I’m doing all the initiating. I need to worry less about what others think and demonstrate concern and love first, actively listening rather than talking at others. Roger Allmand, Holdrege Entrepreneur, says: “Everything happens at the speed of relationship. If you and I don’t have much of a relationship, not much is going to happen here.”

“The mission was a short-term mission. They were not to take provisions as though it was an extended mission—“no bread, no bag, no money in their belts . . . not to put on two tunics” (Mark 6:9). Instead, they were to depend upon the hospitality of the places to which they went. Should a place not accept them, refusing to hear their word, they were to “shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them” (Mark 6:11). ” - Excerpt, Following Jesus: Discipleship in the Gospel of Mark by Steve Langford

“Gracious Father, the word my soul deeply longs for is not to be found in what others say about me or in what I say to myself but rather in what You speak. Teach me to wait for that word that I cannot speak to myself. Root me in Your love, and lead me, by Your Spirit, to live a life of communion with You. Silence the harsh voices within so that I may live from the center of Your holy love. In Christ’s name I pray. Amen.” - Rich Villodas, The Narrow Way

Mark 6-10

Jesus had His critics. Have you ever sensed that a conversation was  set up, that you were backed into a corner?  No matter how you answere...
