Mark 3-16

How hard is it for you to stay out of today’s negative mindset?  Do you find it difficult to not be a cynic?  God me, it depends on the day. Yesterday’s refrain for comparing myself to others’ knowledge, intelligence, possessions, or power does not mean today will avoid the struggle. Am I living by the flesh or by the Spirit (Romans 8)?  Do I allow myself to revert back to shame, self accusation, or past guilt?  Or am I grasping His love in my heart, allowing myself to be loved?

We keep trying to save the world through strength, strategy, and noise. But Christ keeps showing us that the world is redeemed through vulnerability, silence, compassion, love, prayer, and tears.” - Graham Joseph Hill

“Jesus saw in the scribes and Pharisees what the prophet Isaiah proclaimed about the nation of Judah seven hundred years before their day.

They gave the appearance of honoring God “with their lips.” The inner reality did not match that external, outward appearance. “Their hearts are far from me.” They deceived themselves by teaching and following human tradition while ignoring the teachings of God.” - Excerpt, Following Jesus: Discipleship in the Gospel of Mark by Steve Langford
