Dr Carolyn Leaf’s Insight

Dealing with Loneliness

Does this resonate with you?

We really do a great job and hyping up healing but often don’t give the loneliness aspect enough attention. Or a solution.

As you heal you will feel uncomfortable and lonely, often because the people surrounding you may prefer the unhealed version of you. That version may have made them feel more powerful or better about themselves.

To deal with this loneliness aspect:

1. First acknowledge and honor the feelings. You are grieving the past and security you once had.

2. Visualize and describe the person you are trying to become - why are you doing this hard work? Why is it worth it? What kind of life are you trying to live?

3. Remind yourself- it’s ok to create distance and not be around certain people as you heal. Doesn’t mean you don’t love them!

4. Start looking for new people who are on a similar path or mindset through groups, church, apps etc.
