Hope 1/19

I’m guilty just as much as anyone regarding where I look for hope. Thinking that a political viewpoint or policy is going to bring sanity to our world is a false hope. The same can be said for a lot of pursuits, including possessions, power, or self promotion. Our only hope is found in the upside down kingdom of worshipping a King who sits on the throne of our lives.

“Secular conservatism fights for the liberation of the individual from state power while progressivism fights for the liberation of oppressed groups through state power. It is easy for Christians who talk about liberation to be more influenced by one of these political views than by the Bible. Liberation understood in light of the Great Reversal looks very different from either ideology. In short, without the Great Reversal as the lens through which to understand them, the terms love and liberation will end up stamping Christians with the world’s understanding of morality rather than the Bible’s.” - Tim Keller
