An online thesaurus has 611 synonyms for self control. Words like self restraint, avoidance, dignity, discretion, and self denial were at the top of the list. Do advertising and marketing strategies promote the opposite of self control? Uncivil behavior leans toward anarchy, in society and within ourselves. When I let my mind go down rabbit trails that are not good, I create all kinds of turmoil within. Dark places and chaos can stay longer in my thinking just because I didn’t restrain shat I focused on.
