‘May His Kingdom come.’ This request is foreign to North Americans most people in our world. It is certainly against my grain of thinking. Asking for a King to rule my life is asking for His way of loving, not mine. Surrendering my life, everything I’ve worked for, everyone under my care, and all details of who I am to Jesus Christ is an act of humility. His Kingdom is looking for sheets He wants me to be, what He wants me to think, and act like He wants. It’s looking for where He is leading and working. Anything but that is building my own kingdom, an illusion that will lead to nothing. His kingdom is searching for the treasures hidden where He is redeeming and restoring. It is planting seeds that will grow and produce. It is investing time and resources into what will last forever.
