Learning to be a thermostat when temperatures are raging requires wisdom and preparation. Changing the subject and deflecting comments are my ‘go to’ tricks, but I need to get better at listening along with questions that get the raging fires to cool off. When emotions are icy cold, I have a harder time loosening up the hard hearts and closed minds. Regardless, it’s well worth the effort to be a peace maker instead of allowing the ar to continue or escalate.
