Farwrs ought to be experts on waiting. They wait for the corn grow, fearing the next storm or drought. They wait for the seasons to change and for the best market profitability. Yet some of the most high strung men I know are in agriculture. Trusting our Father that He has all im things in His hands is often filled with anxiety at the same moment as the trusting. Waiting is also planning ahead. One cannot be passively waiting for God to do something in us or through us. The rhythms of disciplined study, prayer, and loving those who are difficult require waiting for outcomes. But it’s God’s agenda and His job to bring forth the outcomes. We are only active participants as we wait for Him to nudge us in one direction or another.
