Not so long while teaching a Sunday School class, a participant remarked, “I do not know any non believers to share the gospel. I pretty much friend only believers.” After thinking about her statement, perhaps many church goers build their only relationships with church people. The passion to reach the lost is non existent among many. Is it our lack of love? Jackie Hill Perry says in a book she’s written - “Our lack of love for the lost comes from a lack of seeing God’s holiness.”
Francis Chan’s statement in his book seems to fit:
“In many ways, we have lost a sense of the true holiness of God, and that has caused pride to grow and fester in the church. Everyone seems to start out with the assumption that his or her opinion of God is right, rather than recognizing that all of us have an incomplete, flawed knowledge of God”.
