Being Called not Driven

“If you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive” (2 Peter 1:8).

God’s will for your life is not about what you do but who you are.

God calls us to:

be holy (1 Thessalonians 4:3)

live honorable lives (1 Peter 2:15)

pray and practice gratitude (1 Thessalonians 5:17–18)

walk in wisdom and be full of the Spirit (Ephesians 5:15–18)

have renewed minds and surrendered lives (Romans 12:1–2)

live worthy of the Lord (Colossians 1:9–10)

N. T. Wright described life’s purpose:

The goal you are meant to be aiming at once you have come to faith, the goal which is within reach even in the present life, anticipating the final life to come—is the life of fully formed, fully flourishing Christian character.11

“Make every effort [resolve] to add to your faith” (2 Peter 1:5).

“Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life” (Proverbs 4:23 NASB).
