Surrendering to God’s way of doing life takes humility and a recognition of the authority Jesus has. Giving up my illusion of building my own kingdom of self importance runs counter to what everything our culture is about. Taking the high road, His road, may be a toll road. Sven though Jesus has paid our way, we may need to deny ourselves the privilege of applause or cultural awards. The cost may involve suffering or persecution, but the eternal rewards are beyond our imagination.
