We all hope that we can trust our government leaders but they are plagued by sin just as much as the rest of us. We hope the next election cycle will bring a better selection of leaders. Samuel was full of doubt that any leader would be good for the Hebrews other than God. The Jews hopes that Jesus would be the leader to set them free from Roman rule. But the teachings of Jesus are about a kingdom that rules our hearts, minds and actions in an upside down way, far different than the power grid of any human government. Following Christ is following His way in the here and now knowing that one day all will be made right and justice will be fair.
