Peter 9

It’s crazy that so many professing Christians are so angry about so many issues. I’ve been there. My irritations and disappointments at one time were high, because I thought I was right and others were wrong. But I’m learning that our Father will take care of all issues. It’s not up to me to sort it all out. He is the final Judge. My role is to surrender and obey, counting these issues if being right as a loss, that I might gain Christ. I’m not sure what that that means tomorrow, but I’m learning tk calm dow, resting in His presence.

“When anything in life is an absolute requirement for your happiness and self-worth, it is essentially an ‘idol,’ something you are actually worshiping. When such a thing is threatened, your anger is absolute. Your anger is actually the way the idol keeps you in its service, in its chains. Therefore if you find that, despite all the efforts to forgive, your anger and bitterness cannot subside, you may need to look deeper and ask, ‘What am I defending? What is so important that I cannot live without?’ It may be that, until some inordinate desire is identified and confronted, you will not be able to master your anger.” - Timothy Keller, Counterfeit Gods: The Empty Promises of Money, Sex, and Power, and the Only Hope that Matters
