Bible 341

John’s experience of listening to Jesus must have been clear and to the point. Specific compliments and critiques of church life indicate that God (Jesus) sees every detail of life. Nothing is hidden. This thought used to produce guilt and shame, that I could never measure up to my expectations, let alone God’s. But the more I grasp the fact of His love, I just want to be faithful to Him. His faithfulness is perfect toward me. He is approachable and available. Rev. 3:20 has been a verse to hang on to:  ‘Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with them, and they with me’.

The story of Esther is inspiring and thought provoking. Am I really using the opportunities God gives me to honor Him?  Do I have my eyes open to what He wants me to do and be?  These are my questions after retirement and my prayer. May we both listen for Jesus knocking on our door. May we enjoy His presence as we allow Him in to our lives.
