What are the lies that form the Hollywood Creedo [4] that is faithfully recited by the congregation at each service? A few examples:
1. Artists are persecuted and, therefore, are victims, and fear plagues us.
2. Fame is power to change the world.
3. Progress is the way forward and always better than the past.
4. Freedom is being able to do anything you want, when you want, with whom you want.
5. The world can be a better place, even idyllic, just follow us!
6. Trust yourself, life’s solutions are within you.
7. Spirituality is whatever you want it to be.
8. Life is material; we are goblets of material stuffed into a skin suit. Beauty is, indeed, skin deep.
9. Artists are given a hall pass on excess and exploration to blaze a new trail of truth. If I have sex with a goat, you are supposed to say, “That’s a really fine looking goat.”
10. We are gifted and special; success is the proof—get out of the way, or get me a drink.
