Mark 2-16

How do you handle the storms and crises that come your way?  I can easily become anxious and my ‘what if ….happens’ list does into hyper drive. I’m quite sure Jesus has asked me ‘Where is your Faith?’ on numerous occasions. And I’m sure I wasn’t listening!  But He is patient, full of grace and mercy. The transformation from being afraid of the next storm has diminished by knowing that He loves me and will provide what is needed during and after the crisis. His love endures forever.

David, in the Psalms, speaks of ‘desperate times’ (Psalm 60:3). There are times in life when everything seems to go wrong. Maybe even now you are facing a desperate situation – perhaps with your health, a bereavement, the breakdown of a relationship, work problems, family difficulties, financial trouble or a combination of these. Even in desperate times, you can find the three great virtues of faith, hope and love.” - Nicky Gumbel

“It isn’t only boats that are in danger on the Sea of Galilee. To this day, the parking areas on the western shore have signs warning drivers of what happens in high winds. The sea can get very rough very quickly, and big waves can swamp cars parked on what looked like a safe beach. I have in my study a photograph of the lake, which I took from the top of the Golan Heights on a calm and sunny day; but when the wind suddenly gets up you wouldn’t want to hang around outside with a camera. A boat on the lake suddenly gets tossed around like a child’s toy. People get tossed around in storms too.” - Excerpt, Mark by N.T. Wright
