Mark 2-17

Our culture is data driven, using calculations to drive business and medical decisions. But Scripture is clear that there is another dimension to reality that includes the unseen forces of evil. Their goal is division, destruction and death. I’m guilty of discounting the power of this conflict, but I think it’s important to not dwell on the power of evil. As we focus our attention to His kingdom, the evil intended mindset is curbed and fenced in. Jesus is our authority and His kingdom rules.

“I used to think I could walk the fence between the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light as long as I kept my balance and didn’t stumble.  I cannot be half holy. God calls me to serve Him with my whole heart, all of the time.” - Frank Lauback

“The man spoke as though he were confronting an adversary. “What have you to do with me?” His words pointed to how different the two were. His words indicate he expected Jesus, as an adversary, to attempt to control him the way others had. He expected Jesus to torment him the way he, the unclean spirit, had tormented the man he possessed.” - Excerpt, Following Jesus: Discipleship in the Gospel of Mark by Steve Langford
