Mark 3-4

What are times you have felt distant from God?  Even though you had prayed, nothing happened. You didn’t sense any hope was coming. During some of the worst times in my life, I’ve pleaded with God to do something and other times I was resigned to accept what had already arrived. When I was 7 years old, my brother drowned in.farm tank. This horrific event had a lot of ripple effects, including my dad screaming in anger at God.  Yet mysteriously sensed God’s presence. Regardless of the circumstances, God has promised to NEVER leave us or abandon us.

“God runs to you, even in your suffering, longing to reconnect with you. Will you allow yourself to receive God’s compassionate care? Will you allow God to see and to know not only what happened to you, but what’s happening within you as well? To be sure, many voices will echo the serpent, telling you to go it on your own.” - Excerpt, Healing What’s Within by Chuck DeGroat

God’s great aim has always been, and will forever be, relationship with us. Sometimes, He may deprive us of something in order to draw us to Someone. And when we reciprocate—when we decide that we want Him more than we want His stuff—the most amazing thing happens. We are rewired and our requests are either altered as we grow to know and to prefer what He wants for us, or they are simply answered because, in seeking first the kingdom of God, “all these things” are given to us as well (Matt 6:33).” - Excerpt, God on Mute by Pete Greig
