Letter to my Classroom

 Dear Student,

A Letter From Your Teacher’s Heart

Welcome. Whether you’re excited, nervous, or somewhere in between, I want you to know something very important before we begin this school year:

You are not alone.

I’ve been where you are—standing on the edge of something new, unsure of what to expect, with questions and fears I didn’t always know how to say out loud.

Middle school can be scary.

It’s a big shift. New people, more responsibility, more expectations. But it’s also the start of something powerful—a chance to grow into the person you are becoming.

My Heart’s Desire for You

More than anything, I want you to be successful.

Not just in grades—but in life.

I want you to become someone you can be proud of—even when no one is watching, even if no one else claps for you.

Yes, we’ll learn math and reading, science and writing.

But beyond that, I want to help you grow into someone who is:

✨ Compassionate

✨ Self-aware

✨ Responsible

✨ Kind

✨ Resilient

Because no matter what subject I teach—character will always be the most important lesson.

My Role in Your Story

As your teacher, it’s my responsibility to teach you.

But teaching goes far beyond tests and textbooks.

That means I will:

✔️ Set expectations

✔️ Teach responsibility

✔️ Hold you accountable

✔️ Offer consequences when necessary

But know this:

I will always do it with love and compassion.

Everything I ask of you comes from a place of belief—because I believe in what you are capable of, even when you don’t see it yet.

What I Want Our Classroom to Be

I want this classroom to be a safe place.

A place where you can make mistakes and learn from them.

A place where you can ask questions, speak your truth, and grow.

I want it to reflect the love and discipline I was blessed to receive from the teachers who helped shape me.

The ones who saw me.

Who challenged me.

Who believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself.

That’s the kind of teacher I strive to be for you.

A Few Truths to Carry With You

Life may be unfair to you at times. It just will  for everyone

But that doesn’t mean you can’t still find joy, still love the people you have, and still build a beautiful life.

You are more than capable of doing hard things.

You can open doors you’ve never imagined, just by choosing to listen, stay open-minded, and lead with integrity.

You don’t have to have all the answers—but you do need to try.

And I promise:

I will try, too.

Every single day.

My Wish for You

More than test scores…

More than good behavior charts or homework turned in on time…

I want you to walk out of this year feeling stronger, wiser, and more YOU than you were when you walked in.

You are here on purpose.

You are already enough.

And if you commit to learning—not just with your head, but with your heart—

you will go far.

I’m honored to walk beside you on this part of your journey.

Let’s make it a year to remember.

With all my heart,

Your Teacher”
