As we listen to the news and consider all that could go wrong in our lifetime, I wonder how everything is working precisely to usher in His kingdom. Could it be that what is driving many to fear the future, polarizing and dividing, is a test for us to trust our Creator and Sustainer. Despite the turmoil, chaos, grief, fear, and anger, God has promised to NEVER leave us or abandon us.
“If we come to see the purpose of the universe as God’s long-term glory rather than our short-term happiness, then we will undergo a critical paradigm shift in tackling the problem of evil and suffering. The world has gone terribly wrong. God is going to fix it. First, for his eternal glory. Second, for our eternal good.” - Randy Alcorn, If God Is Good: Faith in the Midst of Suffering and Evil
“The imagery speaks of the end of an age in which life as we know it gives way to that which is new. At that time, the Son of Man would come “with great power and glory” (Mark 13:26), sending his angels to gather the elect “from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven” (Mark 13:27). The imagery recalls the language used to describe Israel’s return from exile in Babylon (Isaiah 43:5–7; 49:8–12). The coming of the Son of Man was described as a time of regathering and restoring of the people.” - Excerpt, Following Jesus: Discipleship in the Gospel of Mark by Steve Langford
