Chosen 3/25

The following statement jumped out: ‘Matthew was not chosen based on what he could do. He was called because of what he was willing to give up, which was everything. He chose to take Jesus at His word: “Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it” (Matthew 10:39 NIV).’ Being chosen for what one gives up or sacrifices is anti American. We are often taught to build a strong resume to prove what we can offer, not what we’ve given up. Our Father has big plans for us if we trust Him. His plans may involve small ordinary mundane decisions we make, sacrificing time, resources and talents for the kingdom, not the American dream.

“The blessed ones who possess the Kingdom are they who have repudiated every external thing and have rooted from their hearts all sense of possessing. These are the "poor in spirit.” - A.W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God
