Hearing God 16

Even though the apostle Peter doesn’t say that he is warning us but it’s possible to make up a story that we have heard something from God, contriving a carefully thought out line of logic, claiming it is divine thinking.  Peter also says that the Holy Spirit speaks.  The inner confirmation of God’s voice to us does not enhance our self driven desire for more possessions, power or prestige.  Being led by Him to make specific decisions brings God’s glory to be known, not our own celebrity status.  The inner impression of His leading is consistent with the Bible’s teaching and is matched by a humility of awe toward our Savior.

“For we did not follow cleverly contrived myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; instead, we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. because no prophecy ever came by the will of man; instead, men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”
