New Year 5

One of the greatest gifts God has allowed us is music. A lot of songs are grumbling lyrics but so many declare worship to our sovereign God. Repeating these songs can rewire our thoughts, helping us to remember who God wants us to be. How many times have I dreamed a bad dream or had a sleepless night when I dwell on my anxieties. On the other hand, when I’ve participated in worship at church, or listened to a series of worship songs on my own, I wake up with that tune or the lyrics in my thoughts. I can either number my complaints or count my blessings.

If my heart is ever going to be freed of grumbling and ruled by gratitude, I need your grace: grace to remember, grace to see, grace that produces a heart of humble joy.” - Paul David Tripp, New Morning Mercies: A Daily Gospel Devotional

Counting My Blessings

Song by Seph Schlueter

It's like it was yesterday

I was a praying for a miracle

Scared to have a little hope

And now looking back today

Seeing all the things You've done

I can't even add them up

One, two, three

Up to infinity

I'd run out of numbers

Before I could thank You for everything

God, I'm still counting my blessings

All that You've done in my life

The more that I look in the details

The more of Your goodness I find

Father on this side of Heaven

I know that I'll run out of time

But I will keep counting my blessings

Knowing I can't count that high

And I know the seasons never lost forever

So God, I will remember

All of the reasons my heart has to be grateful

All the times You've been faithful to me

God, I'm still counting my blessings

All that You've done in my life

The more that I look in the details

The more of Your goodness I find

Father on this side of Heaven

I know that I'll run out of time

But I will keep counting my blessings

Knowing I can't count that high

Oh, I can't count that high

High

Oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh

High

Oh, Your goodness, Your goodness

One, two, three

Up to infinity

I'd run out of numbers

Before I could thank You for everything

God, I'm still counting my blessings

All that You've done in my life

The more that I look in the details

The more of Your goodness I find

Father on this side of Heaven

I know that I'll run out of time

But I will keep counting my blessings

Knowing I can't count that high

I will keep counting my blessings

Knowing I can't count that high
