Can we fake our journey of following Christ? Can we present the image that we are mature and disciplined, while living a secret life of selfish sin? Evidently you and I can be a fake, based on the many leaders in the church world being caught in a contradictory lifestyle. How can we protect ourselves from making a huge sin mistake that would blow up our reputation? I’m thinking our best protection is our effort to live in our Lord’s presence, praying all issues out with Him. It helps to develop the vision of who God wants us to be, and making every effort to live that image out in our ordinary moments.
“If I’m abiding in Christ, denying myself, living by the Spirit, an interactive experience with our Triune God brings greater love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control. There is no law or list of rules that control the outcome of His kingdom. Participation in the Spirit’s moving is a part of being a citizen of the kingdom. Walking in the Spirit is communicating, talking and listening to what He is saying. Being attached to our Father is being glued to His word, praying out our concerns, praising Him for His presence, knowing that He will NEVER leave us or forsake us.” - Richard Foster
“No amount of self-discipline, no set of man-made rules and regulations, can control this old nature. Only the Holy Spirit of God can enable us to “put to death” the old nature (Rom. 8:12–13) and produce the Spirit’s fruit (Gal. 5:22–23) in us through the new nature.
Sinning saints are not mentioned in the Bible to discourage us, but to warn us.” - Excerpt, Be Real (1 John) by Warren W. Wiersbe
