Mark 4-4

I used to ask God to show me a sign for a decision, as a final choice or as a confirmation.  But I’m learning that communication with Him is not for special occasions or confirmations.  Talking all things out with Him is listening for His voice, knowing Him through the word, and being available all the time, not just some of the time.  I have a long way to go and do not want to the critic on the corner or a Negative Ned like a Pharisee.  Let’s pray for soft hearts and open ears.

“Americans no longer talk to each other, they entertain each other. They do not exchange ideas, they exchange images. They do not argue with propositions; they argue with good looks, celebrities and commercials.” — Neil Postman

You do not become a disciple, and you do not become a person who is content no matter what happens, unless you have chosen how to live your life. And that’s one of the biggest problems for us today, because the teaching of grace that we have has made us passive. And grace is treated as something that just comes upon you like lightning, not something that you make a point of cultivating.” - Dallas Willard, The Kingdom Life

The deeds of power he had done were not enough evidence in their minds. Jesus sighed deeply in his spirit” (Mark 8:12). He was growing weary of dealing with the closed-minded, stubborn resistance of the Pharisees and their ploys to test him. He grieved the hardness of their hearts (Mark 3:5).” - Excerpt, Following Jesus: Discipleship in the Gospel of Mark by Steve Langford
