What doctrines or teachings have you had to ‘unlearn’? Jesus warns us that there could be false teachings that have slid their way into our thinking. I’m relearning that it’s important to be discerning what His kingdom is all about, and it’s quite different than any earthly kingdom I’ve known. Possessions, power, building a platform, can all be used for Him, but are these methods with Him? Is my awe of Jesus surpassing my awe of anything else?
“Conversion Is a Kind of Revolution,
Not just a change in ideas, but a reordering of love.
Conversion isn’t a moral upgrade.
It’s not about behaving better or believing cleaner.
It’s an inner uprising.
It’s an inside-out revolution.
It tears down the false structures we’ve built to keep ourselves safe.
It reveals what we’ve idolized.
It humbles. It remakes.
Sometimes it looks like raised fists.
But just as often, it looks like tears in the dark.”

“Watch out—beware the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod” (Mark 8:15). Jesus’s warning was a call to recognize the pervasiveness of these teachings as well as their fallacies. It was a call to guard against their influence. It was a call to be discerning. It was a call to be self-aware, recognizing the influences that shaped their own thinking.” - Excerpt, Following Jesus: Discipleship in the Gospel of Mark by Steve Langford
