Today’s study reminds me that each person must experience the kingdom in a personal way. The blind man was brought to Jesus by friends, realizing that Jesus was his only option. The disciples needed to be reminded that they were like the blind man, needing to trust Jesus. Jesus had reminded them who He was several times by the lack of good to feed thousands and themselves in the boat. They had witnessed other healings, but this one was one to one, no show for an audience. The same can be said for us as we understand our Triune God’s calm in our hearts.
“When they arrive in Bethsaida, Jesus heals another blind man (8:22-26). How is this healing related to what happened in the boat?” - Excerpt, Mark by N.T. Wright
“The ministry of the Holy Spirit is entirely about translating the teachings and promises of Jesus in a way that forms us at the deepest level—rewriting our neural pathways and enabling us to embody our redemption. The Holy Spirit pushes the teachings of Jesus from the head, where they can be understood, down into the heart, where they can heal our emotions and become a new foundation for us to live from.” - Excerpt, The Familiar Stranger by Tyler Staton
